Mayor Emanuel asks Minnesota AG to back off Chicago Company With Clout

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
Mayor Rahm Emanuel is wading into Accretive Health Inc.'s fight with Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson, asking her to rein in her investigation until she meets with executives of the Chicago-based company, including CEO Mary Tolan.

In an undated letter to Ms. Swanson, Mr. Emanuel does not address Ms. Swanson's allegations that the company used high-pressure tactics to collect fees from patients of a Minneapolis-based client.

But he tells Ms. Swanson, “There should be no further contact between your office and the company's clients pending the outcome of the meeting,” according to a copy of the letter, which was distributed by Accretive this morning to members of the news media.
There's more:
Accretive is no stranger to City Hall. In 2010, the Daley administration gave the company a public subsidy of about $6 million in tax-increment financing. The money was to be used to train 650 new hires at its office at 231 S. LaSalle St. and expand the facility.
That's the Chicago Way! A company with political ties loots the taxpayers and get a letter from Rahm Emanuel. As you can guess, this isn't laissez-faire capitalism.
