The city of Chicago is a health care market marked by high costs and poor care, according to a new study.
The city ranks in the bottom third of 306 health care markets nationwide, according to a report by Commonwealth Fund, a New York-based health care research foundation. The report scored every health care market on 43 factors, such as percentage of people with insurance, mortality rates for Medicare patients, readmission rates and potentially avoidable hospitalization.
