Flashback 1996: Mayor Daley Honors Chicago Mob Member With City Council Resolution; Daley Gets Shy About His Brother's Father-In-Law Being A Ghostpayroller Who Ripped Off Chicago Taxpayers

Flashback 1996. Chicago's Mayor Daley honors a member of the Chicago Mob. In 1963,the United States permanent subcommittee on investigations identified Louis Briatta as a member of the Chicago Mob. Here's a city council resolution honoring Louie "the barber" Briatta.

TRIBUTE TO LATE MR. LOUIS BRIATTA.
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta passed away on Monday, January 29, 1996, at
the age of eighty-seven; and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta was the beloved husband of Tina, nee Guzaldo;
and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta was the loving father of Mary Lou, who is
married to John Daley; and of Ralph; and of Cosmo, who is married to Mary
K.; and of Christine, who is married to Patrick Shannon; and of John, who is
married to Pamela; and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta was a dear grandfather to his sixteen
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta was the fond brother of Mike, who is married to
Liz; and of Tom, who is married to Agnes; and of the late Mary, who was
married to the late Jim Pastore; and of the late Joseph 'Ten", who was
married to the late Elsie; and of Ralph, who was married to the late Rose;
and of Frank, who was married to the late Mary; and ofthe late Antone, who
was married to the late John D' Arco; and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta was a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews;
and
WHEREAS, Louis Briatta, a cherished friend of many and a good
neighbor to all, will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his many
family members, friends and associates; now, therefore.
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of
the City ofChicago, assembled this seventh day of February, 1996, do hereby
extend to the family of the late Louis Briatta our deepest condolences and
most heartfelt sympathies upon their loss; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of the late Louis Briatta as a sign of our sympathy
and good wishes.
