Rahm Defends Chicago Taxpayers Funding Security Detail For Ex-Mayor Daley's Wife Maggie

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:

Explaining his decision to continue providing security for Daley, Emanuel focused on Daley’s wife, who continues to face health problems as a result of a years-long battle with cancer.

Two of the officers are assigned to Maggie Daley, while the third is assigned to the former mayor, Emanuel said then.

Maggie Daley “has done countless thousands of hours on behalf of the city as a first lady,” Emanuel said. “While we are a city of big shoulders, we are also a city of big hearts.”
