10 charged in massive $1B LIRR pension fraud: feds

The New York Post reports:
Ten people, including a former union president, were slapped with fraud charges today in connection with a massive pension scam involving fake disability claims by Long Island Rail Road workers that cost the agency $1 billion, authorities said.

The suspects -- which included seven former LIRR workers accused of making false pension claims, two doctors and a former federal railroad pension agency employee -- were busted by the FBI in the connection with the long-running swindle.

It's about time.
