Most Milwaukee-area teachers unions plan to seek recertification under the new rules signed into law by Gov. Scott Walker that curtail public employee collective bargaining, while a minority of educator unions will be decertified by the end of the day Friday.
Teachers and school employees unions have until 4:30 p.m. Friday to request recertification elections and pay a fee to start the process, which will be overseen by the Wisconsin Employee Relations Commission in a telephone vote later this fall.
