Once you're fat, you never go back: Scientists say dieters' bodies rarely return to their former shape

The Daily Mail reports:
Try as you might, diet and exercise won't keep the weight off for long if you're already overweight, a 55-year study shows.

Scientists discovered that once people gain weight, and then go on a diet, their body almost always returns to its former size.

Of the 12million Brits that go on a diet each year, less than 10 per cent succeed in losing significant amounts of weight. And most that do succeed, pile the weight back on within a year.
Don't be discouraged: if you eat and drink less calories you can lose weight. It may be difficult, but it can be done.
