Powerful Chicago Alderman Welcomes Payday Lender/ Pawn Shop But Fought Wal-Mart to Protect Consumers From Low Prices

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
Just call him "Mr. Business."

That would be Chicago Alderman Edward Burke (14th), who not only is welcoming but cutting the ribbon on a new Cash America store in his ward at noon on Friday.

Mr. Burke, of course, often introduces ordinances aimed at protecting the little guy, like his recent proposal to kill plans by the Adler Planetarium to bump up its admission fee $2 and his work to keep Wal-Mart out of town.

Alderman Burke: protecting Chicago consumers from low prices.
