30 percent of Americans have never been married

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Thirty percent of Americans have never been married — the largest percentage in the past 60 years, says the U.S. Census.

Among those ages 25 to 29, the never-marrieds increased from 27 percent in 1986 to 47 percent in 2009, says the report, based on data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation.
