While Obama repeated many of his previous talking points on various issues, he captivated the crowd with his response to a question from Facebook engineer Lior Abraham of San Jose, about the Republican’s budget plan. The president talked about his own upbringing — raised by a single mother who had sometimes needed food stamps and by grandparents who had benefited from Medicare and the GI Bill, and using scholarships to pay for his own education.In Obama's democratic socialist world: there are no clearly defined property rights so government can confiscate wealth in the name of the "public interest". No word yet on Obama calling for billionaires like Warren Buffett to not get Medicare.
Congressional Republicans want "to change our social compact in a pretty fundamental way," Obama said. "Their notion is despite the fact that I’ve benefited from all these investments ... that somehow I now have no obligation to people who are less fortunate than me, and I have no real obligation to future generations."
