NYC School custodial no-show job scam broken up

The New York Post reports:
City school probers have busted up a long-running custodial "no-show" job scam under which at least six workers allegedly defrauded the city of more than $600,000.

Probers say suspected ring-leader Trifon Radef, a 36-year veteran custodial engineer at Roosevelt and Truman high schools in The Bronx, created four ghost jobs for his buddies from which he skimmed a good chunk of change and paid his pals in cash since at least 2007.

As the Post reported in November, Radef also allegedly used school money to pay his underlings to gut and renovate nine of the 10 homes he owns in Queens — which are valued at nearly $6 million.

Much of the material was also paid using school funds, the workers told The Post and school investigators.

Working class heroes who need collective bargaining rights. Custodian's as real estate magnets! Just a reminder when you are asked to "bailout" the highly efficient NYC public school system.
