Women obsessed with their looks 'post photos of themselves on Facebook to compete for attention'

Women who base their self-worth on their appearance use Facebook to feel better about themselves, scientists believe.

Such women tend to share more photos online and maintain larger networks on social networking sites, according to the study.

Researchers found that, perhaps unsurprisingly, women identify more strongly with their image and appearance than men.
