The County of Hudson is continuing to pay $120,000 per month to rent a Journal Square building that the county vacated nearly two years ago - a property owned by the mother of the former chairman of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.High taxes pay for this sort of corruption.
The 10-year lease on 100 Newkirk St., where the county housed its welfare agencies and other departments before they moved to County Plaza in May 2009, will expire on June 30.
By that time, the county will have paid a whopping $2.9 million to rent eight stories of unused offices.
