Michigan GOP targets unions, too, labor group charges

The Detroit Free Press reports:
Republicans in the Legislature want to strip Michigan unions of their bargaining rights, similar to efforts by Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scot Walker that have caused political upheaval there, two leaders of the Michigan AFL-CIO charged today.

AFL-CIO president Mark Gaffney and AFT Michigan president David Hecker said while GOP Gov. Rick Snyder has pledged to work with state employee unions to reduce costs, “right wing, ideological” Republicans in the House and Senate have introduced 33 bills they said would undermine unions’ ability to negotiate.
