The L.A. Daily News reports:
It's long been known that Los Angeles City Council members are the nation's highest-paid, but a new national study has found they also spend more on staffs and are provided with better perks than most other cities as well.
The Pew Research Center report found that Los Angeles council members have office budgets of $1.7 million per member, the highest among 15 of the nation's biggest cities.
The special class. (Update) from an alert reader:
Your post under the headline, “LA's governing panelists have the best salaries and spend more on staff than any in the nation” incorrectly attributes data to the Pew Research Center. The data is actually from The Pew Charitable Trusts—through a project called the Philadelphia Research Initiative. The Pew Research Center is actually a separate, independent subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts.
We have already contacted the LA Daily News regarding the error, but we would appreciate a correction in your post as well, if possible.
Thank you
