Business, Hollywood big shots help stock Emanuel’s war chest

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Rahm Emanuel took in an eye-popping $11.7 million for his Chicago mayoral campaign in just three months, notching big contributions from Chicago’s business community, Hollywood heavyweights and other out-of-state donors.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange gave Emanuel $200,000, records released Thursday show. He also took in $100,000 apiece from wealthy Chicago businessmen James Crown and Fred Eychaner, plus another $100,000 from Hollywood mogul David Geffen, $75,000 from film director Steven Spielberg and $50,000 from Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
Who could forget that Rahm Emanuel used to be on the board of directors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange? Who could forget the Chicago Mercantile Exchange gets a bailout from the Fed courtesy of Dodd-Frank? Who could forget Chris Dodd's wife(Jackie Clegg) is on the board of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange? Is Rahm Emanuel's campaign a payback to legislation he pushed as chief of staff? It's so nice that non-Chicago residents give like Steven Spielberg and David Geffen give large scale campaign contributions to a Mayoral race several states away from where they live. It must be out of "civil duty".
