The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
A now-retired Chicago Police officer gave false testimony in a 1999 narcotics trial of a man sentenced to more than 17 years in prison, federal prosecutors alleged Monday.
There much more on retired Chicago Police officer Glenn Lewellen:
Lewellen was a Chicago cop from 1986 to 2002. He used his position as a police officer to provide members of a drug operation with information about ongoing federal investigations into the ring, the indictment said. He also allegedly “held himself out as a police officer when obtaining wholesale quantities of cocaine in the Chicago area,” according to the indictment.
Lewellen was arrested Friday by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents. He is charged with racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Just think , in all those years Lewellen served as a police officer: Chicago had a
handgun ban except for police officers.
