Local Farms Could Become Illegal: Senate Bill 510

Zagasi News reports:
Bill S 510 known as the Food Safety Modernization Act, sits on the Senate floor waiting for a vote. Unlike many of the bills that have followed this same path and mean little to nothing to the average citizen, this bill will have dire consequences to the way food is grown in America.

If Bill s 510 were to pass, personal control over gardening would be severely restricted and saving seeds, a practice whereby farmers use leftover seeds the following season, would be outlawed. In short, it would grant the U.S. government new authority over the public’s right to grow, trade and transport any foods.

Food production of any kind would essentially be under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security and anyone caught growing food without permission, even in their own backyard, could be charged with a criminal offense.
Progressives call this progress.
