The Chicago Tribune has a good column today:
And a few days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Chicago's illogical handgun ban — thus rightly affirming the Second Amendment of the Constitution even here — Mayor Richard Daley had different ideas.
He's now working on a new ordinance that is expected to allow only one handgun per registered "qualified" individual.
Other impediments to the Second Amendment are also being considered, including insurance, training courses, licensing fees and whatever else he can think of.
Daleytutional scholars understand the inherent conflict between the Constitution and the Daleytution. But they also know another thing: He's the boss.
One noteworthy, qualified individual(of the Chicago Way) is the former Chief of Detectives of the Chicago Police Department
William Hanhardt. Here's the DOJ press release on Hanhardt from U.S. Attorney Scott Lassar:
"Hanhardt's organization surpasses in duration and sophistication -just about any other jewelry theft ring we've seen in federal law enforcement," said Mr. Lassar. "The defendants would determine the most opportune time to steal jewelry from places such as cars and hotel rooms by surveilling traveling salesmen and by keeping detailed records analyzing their routines, all with the purpose of providing income to themselves from the stolen property," he added.
Gun control , Chicago style.
