Flashback: Chicago Mob Member Explains to the AP Why So Many Relatives Are On City of Chicago Payroll

Flashback to The New York Times:
A city Alderman has acknowledged that 16 members of his family are on the city payroll. However, when he was asked about nepotism, he replied, ''So what?''

''What's there to defend?'' Alderman Fred B. Roti, a Democrat who is a close ally of Mayor Jane M. Byrne, asked. ''They're doing a day's work for a day's pay. They're all doing their jobs. They're all working hard.''
How many elected officials can say the U.S. Attorney General named them as a member of La Cosa Nostra before they were convicted of anything?
