Psychological evaluation system weeds out bad cops

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on predicting bad cops:
The statistics-based psychological evaluation system was developed by Matrix Inc. in the mid-1990s in Louisiana.

At the time, police agencies were looking for a way to reduce costs associated with lawsuits against officers. Over the years, agencies that use the system have provided Matrix with followup information on their officers' performance, allowing for increasingly accurate predictions about new applicants, said Bob Davis of Matrix Inc.

"Right now, we are tracking 9,700 officers across North America," Davis said. "We have practically eliminated litigation associated with negligent hiring."
An interesting article.
