The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge — the face of police torture allegations in Chicago for decades — was found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice by a federal jury this afternoon.
There's more:
Burge, a decorated Vietnam vet who was fired from his police job in 1993 amid abuse allegations, was accused of beating mostly African-American criminal suspects while he worked at Area 2 in the 1970s and 1980s and then later denying it in a deposition during a 2003 civil lawsuit.
