Church, city take tax spat to court

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco has taken its $14.4 million tax fight with the city to court.

In a new lawsuit, the church argues it doesn't owe the cash-strapped city for moving properties from one Catholic nonprofit to another. Such taxes are collected when properties are sold or transferred to a separate and distinct legal entity.
