Suit: union official racist, wished Oprah dead

The New York Post reports:
A former maintenance worker at the Starrett City housing complex’s power plant filed a $4 million discrimination suit against her union yesterday, claiming that a bigoted boss used racial slurs against black workers and openly wished Oprah Winfrey dead.

Suzanne Langford says shop steward Michael Sullivan, who is white, referred to one black worker as "a ‘monkey’ or ‘gorilla’ ‘who should be up a tree sucking on a banana.’"

Langford, who is black, also alleges that Sullivan once opined "that Oprah Winfrey should have ‘died in a plane crash.’"

The Davis-Bacon tradition. No word yet from union supporter, Chicago Alderman Burke on this one.
