Medicare fraud panel on tap in Miami

The Miami Herald reports:
Federal authorities on Medicare fraud will meet with Miami business leaders Tuesday morning to discuss one of the biggest problems plaguing South Florida.

In the past five years, the U.S. attorney's office has prosecuted more than 900 Medicare offenders who have submitted about $2.5 billion in false claims with the federal entitlement program for the elderly and disabled. The South Florida prosecutions account for one-third of all Medicare fraud cases nationwide.
