Chicago Mob Lieutenant charged with rigging bids at McCormick Place

The Chicago Tribune reports:
Reputed mob lieutenant Rudy Fratto was arrested this morning after being indicted for mail fraud involving bid-rigging at McCormick Place.

Also charged was William Anthony Degironemo, 66, of Inverness, who runs MidStates Equipment Rentals and Sales, prosecutors said.

Fratto and Degironemo schemed to rig a 2006 contract awarded by Greyhound Exposition Services of Las Vegas, whose clients included the International Machine and Tool Show and the National Plastics Exposition, federal authorities allege.

Authorities said a cooperating witness who worked for the Las Vegas company owed a debt to members of the Cleveland organized crime family and a Chicago lawyer, and that Fratto sought to intercede on his behalf.
