31 convicted Chicago Aldermen since 1973

With Alderman Ike Carothers pleading guilty yesterday, The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Since 1973, 31 aldermen or former aldermen have been convicted of corruption or other crimes. Some held other offices besides alderman, and not all were nabbed for crimes committed while on the Council.

One of the 31 Chicago Alderman is Fred Roti, pictured below. Roti was described by the U.S. Department of Justice as a "high ranking made member" of the Chicago Mob and a patronage boss of the Outfit. You might find it strange that the voters of the city of Chicago would elect a mob boss for 23 years. But, heh it's Chicago.
