1 in 3 city workers living outside Boston

The Boston Herald reports:
Despite City Hall’s efforts to keep city employees within Boston’s borders, nearly one-third of the work force live elsewhere, commuting to work from as far away as Maine and Vermont.

The city’s residency rule - on the books since the mid-90s - has its limitations, and a Herald payroll analysis shows large numbers of workers have jumped to the suburbs, north to New Hampshire and south to Rhode Island.
