L.A. Union vows to fight 'inevitable' layoffs by city

The L.A. Daily News reports:
Threatened with layoffs that have been called inevitable because of the city of Los Angeles' deficit, a union representing about 6,000 city employees vowed Friday to fight back.

"Basically, we can force the city to abide by its own administrative code, which makes it very difficult to lay off employees in EAA," said Bob Aquino, executive director of the Engineers and Architects Association.

EAA members include accountants, city planners, information technology specialists, technicians and DNA analysts.
Unions and "force".
