Daley: Chicago handgun ban saves lives

ABC TV Chicago reports:
Mayor Daley says Chicago's ban on handguns needs to stay in place to save lives.

Daley is in Washington for the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The meeting is focusing on the economy and jobs. But the mayor is also defending the city's long time handgun ban. In March, the U.S. Supreme Court will consider whether it is constitutional.

"Many mayors who have the political courage to stand up and say we just want reasonable gun laws. We don't think anybody should carry an AK47. We should not have excess handguns in our society," said Daley.
A reasonable gun law to Mayor Daley is taking away the right to defend yourself in your own home.
