California Teacher pay can vary greatly by district, California report says

The Sacramento Bee reports:
Teachers in the Mountain View-Los Altos Union School District are the state's best paid, making an average of $95,365. That's nearly double the amount paid to the state's lowest paid educators – $49,753 – in the Konocti Unified School District in Lake County, according to a Bee analysis of districts with more than 100 teachers.

In the Sacramento region, however, teachers salaries aren't so disparate.

Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District teachers are the highest paid locally, averaging $69,817 a year, while the lowest paid work in the River Delta Joint Unified School District, making $52,105.

Statewide, teachers average $66,995 annually, while educators in Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo and Placer counties average $63,773, according to the report. The average U.S. teacher makes $52,308.
So the average teacher in California makes almost $67,000 a year which doesn't include health insurance, a pension , and time off in the summer. Few professions in California pay this well.
