Italian dictator Mussolini worked for British intelligence in WWI

USA Today reports:
Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler's ally in World War II, was on the payroll of British intelligence during the first World War, The Guardian reports.

The British newspaper says archived documents show that the future leader of the Italian Fascists got his start in politics in 1917 with the help of £100 a week from the MI5, the legendary British intelligence operation.
