Chicago's Clout Hospital: Chicago Sun-Times Investigates

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Four years ago, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center -- Chicago's first hospital -- was facing bankruptcy and on the verge of closing.

The hospital run by the Sisters of Mercy, whose mission is to serve the poor, was bleeding money.

But the Sisters of Mercy have clout. Not only with the man upstairs, but with the man on the fifth floor at City Hall -- Mayor Daley.
Another outstanding investigation by Tim Novak. Here's more on the powerful people helping run things.
