A former Chicago police officer admitted Wednesday that she lied to investigators from the department's Internal Affairs Division to cover up wrongdoing in the Special Operations Section.Gun control is working for corrupt Chicago cops. Corrupt Chicago cops know it's better to have a disarmed populace to ply their trade!
Margaret Hopkins, 37, became the fifth officer since last week to plead guilty in the long-running state and federal investigation into members of the once-elite unit.
Authorities allege that SOS officers targeted suspected drug dealers and gang members, many of them Hispanic, and then stole cash and drugs from them during illegal searches of their homes.
Last week, four officers pleaded guilty to charges of theft or official misconduct. Unlike those officers, who together stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal searches, Hopkins did not profit from her role.
