Police-fire pension board sues Detroit over $45 million

Crain's Detroit Business reports:
Detroit's Police and Fire Retirement System has filed a lawsuit to compel a $45 million required city contribution it says is delinquent.

The board voted on June 25 to authorize legal action if the payment wasn't made by June 30, according to minutes from the June 25 meeting.

The city missed that deadline, said Walter Stampor, executive secretary of the city's General Retirement System, and the lawsuit was filed two weeks ago in Wayne County Circuit Court. The case is before Chief Judge Virgil Smith.
