Guaranty Bank Is 81st to Fail

The Wall Street Journal reports:
Federal regulators shut down Guaranty Bank in Texas on Friday and agreed to absorb the bulk of potential losses on a portfolio of assets sold to the U.S. division of a Spanish bank.

The failure and three others on Friday bring the total number of bank failures this year to 81, the highest level since the end of the savings-and-loan crisis.
