Gov. Bob Riley says special session call could come this week

The Birmingham News reports:
Gov. Bob Riley said during a stop in Huntsville that he hopes this week to be able to call a special session to deal with Jefferson County's financial troubles.

"I hope there will be (a special session) and I hope we can call it this week," said Riley, who was in Huntsville to promote the state's tax-free weekend that starts Friday.

Riley has said he'll call a session quickly when Jefferson County legislators agree on a plan to address the county's budget problems. According to The Birmingham News, Jefferson County's legislative delegation has agreed on an occupational tax bill to generate more money for the county.
