Field Poll contends GOP is isolated as California shifts left

The Sacramento Bee reports:
The climbing number of independent voters over the past 30 years has fueled a more liberal shift in attitudes among Californians about hot-button issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion, according to a Field Poll survey released Tuesday.
Any good news for the GOP?:
The study did find support across party lines for Proposition 13, the 1978 initiative that capped property taxes, and for the death penalty. It also found the proportion of people describing California as "one of the best places" to live had dropped from 76 percent in 1977 to 41 percent in 2009.
Imagine that.
