Chicago's Finance Chief Alderman Burke Gets New Carpeting While Chicago Runs Massive Deficit

He's the real Mayor of Chicago. He wants new carpeting. The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
When times are tough, most people forget about remodeling. If the carpeting has holes and the paint is peeling, they live with it.

Not Chicago's most powerful alderman. Finance Committee Chairman Edward M. Burke

New carpeting is being installed to eliminate the need to cover holes with duct tape. Walls are being re-painted. A "small number" of chairs and cubicles are being replaced.
Alderman Burke knows how to use other people's money to his benefit. No word yet on whether the people who are doing the carpet job have ever contributed money to Alderman Burke.
