Flashback 1979: Alderman Burke Wants People to View Him as a Lawyer Not Elected Politician




The flashback is to 1979. Professor Milton Rakove inteviews Alderman Burke in his book We Don't Want Nobody Nobody Sent published by Indiana University Press. Here's a revealing quote from Alderman Ed Burke on page 143:
I would like people to think of me primarily as a lawyer.However, I find most people don't think of me that way. They think of me as an alderman or a committeeman, and sometimes it's not good for business either.
We have a feeling Wal-Mart probably views Alderman Burke as mostly a lawyer.
