By virtue of his chairmanship of the Democratic Party Judicial Slating Committee he has been able to avoid any hint of indictment or threat of legal action against him, in spite of the fact that he has been at the center of numerous scandals and media investigations. His only response to the allegations of ethics violations and mob ties is: “I have done nothing wrong. I abide by the law. I file all of the necessary ethic statements. And when there is a measure before a committee that I serve on and/or before the council, I abstain from voting to avoid a conflict of interest. ”
