Chris Kennedy's Ohio deal draws fire

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
As Merchandise Mart boss Chris Kennedy edges closer to a decision on whether to run for the U.S. Senate, his involvement in a controversial deal in Cleveland is beginning to draw a fair amount of attention on the blogosphere.

At issue is Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc.'s partnership with Cuyahoga County in a proposed convention center and medical mart. The project is to receive a reported $425 million in public subsidies.
The matter has received a lot of attention in the Cleveland press, with the Plain Dealer threatening to sue over alleged violations of the Ohio Open Records Law, and reports that a county commissioner pushed hard to approve the project fast even though the cost might be reduced by more than $100 million.
Using other peoples' money.
