Tim Novak and Chris Fusco have a great front page story on Chicago insiders making money. The Chicago Sun-Times reports on The Chicago Way of development:
Dozens of subcontractors worked on the project, too. They included D & P Construction, owned by the sister-in-law of reputed Chicago mob boss John "No Nose" DiFronzo, and Miffy Trucking, one of the companies booted from the city's scandal-plagued Hired Truck Program.
Here's a look at John "No Nose" DiFronzo and his friends. Here's more on Miffy,a Roti family special. What would a Chicago project be without Alderman Burke?:
Ald. Edward M. Burke (14th), who voted to approve Maxwell Street's redevelopment, bought two condos in the development for $259,500 apiece in late 2002. He sold one for $318,000 on April 8, 2005. He still owns the other.
Who could forget that Alderman Burke voted for creating a TIF district in which this project is located? Here's the first story in the series.
