U.S. raids Crestwood offices in water probe

The Chicago Tribune reports:
About 14 agents from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency raided government offices in south suburban Crestwood this morning, 10 days after a Tribune investigation found that the village cut corners and knowingly supplied its residents with contaminated well water for two decades.

The investigators, from the Environmental Criminal Division of the EPA, raided Crestwood Village Hall, 13840 S. Cicero Ave., and then the town's public works department. The team was heading to the village's police department next.
Two decades of government malfeasance? I guess the ballot box and an informed public can't prevent government corruption.
