Councilor liens on Boston to settle tax cases

The Boston Herald reports:
The cash-hungry city of Boston has let millions in unpaid property tax cases collect dust - some for more than a century - prompting one councilor to call for an auction of the delinquent liens to raise needed funds.

All told, some 916 unresolved tax lien cases - spanning the 1900s and worth a combined $9.7 million - are languishing in legal limbo, even as the city prepares to lay off 565 workers, including 212 teachers and classroom aides.
