Chicago Firm with Patronage Army Ties Get Big Contract

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
A company with ties to Bridgeport trucking magnate Fred Barbara and the Hispanic Democratic Organization has been awarded a three-year, $17.6 million contract to supply the giant garbage bins that helped Mayor Daley abolish the scandal-ridden Hired Truck Program.

In 2004, Allied Waste Services got what was supposed to be a three-year, $2.4 million contract to supply the giant bins for construction debris -- called "roll-off boxes" -- and dump the contents in licensed landfill or disposal sites.
