Chicago City Council zoning czar Alderman Banks to step down




The Chicago Tribune reports:
The long-time boss of the City Council’s Zoning Committee has told colleagues and aides that he intends to quit.

Ald. William J.P. Banks (36th) has been chairman of the committee that rules on zoning changes across Chicago since Mayor Richard Daley took office in 1989.
