Chicago Mob turncoat gets 12 years, 4 months

The Chicago Tribune reports:
Nicholas Calabrese, the only "made" member of the Chicago Outfit to cooperate with law enforcement against the mob, was sentenced to 12 years and 4 months in prison today for more than a dozen gangland slayings decades ago.

Calabrese's testimony at the landmark Family Secrets trial in 2007 was crucial to prosecutors winning convictions of top mobsters Joey "the Clown" Lombardo, James Marcello and Calabrese's brother, Frank Calabrese Sr., all of whom have been sentenced to life terms.

Nicholas Calabrese, 66, admitted he took part in 14 murders, including the notorious mob hits of Las Vegas mob chieftain Tony Spilotro and his brother, Michael, whose bodies were discovered buried in an Indiana cornfield. He faced up to life in prison.
