California to get $17.5 billion in federal aid

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed five bills Friday that will allow California to receive more than $17.5 billion in federal economic stimulus aid.

But the funds from Washington won't be enough for the state to avoid nearly $3 billion in tax increases and cuts in services needed to balance the state's budget.
Your federal tax dollars are helping pay 3600 California prison guards to make over $100,000 a year. These government workers get 16 weeks off a year in the state of California. Why should California reform when they plan on taxing you so their government workforce can live better than you?
