The AP reports:
A sports consultant told an aide to Rod Blagojevich that Barack Obama's election presented "opportunities" for the then-governor.
Marc Ganis is a consultant helping with business deals involving the Tribune-owned Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.
Ganis told John Harris in a Nov. 6 e-mail obtained by The Associated Press that "the opportunities we discussed ... are in front of you guys."
Rich Miller at
Capitol Fax explains the situation:
Several e-mails mention the Illinois Finance Authority, which prosecutors claim Blagojevich and Harris wanted to use to provide financial assistance of $100 million or more to Tribune to get a tax break on its Wrigley sale.
